Can Chocolate Come Out to Play? - Paperback (free P&P)

I came to England from Barbados at age of eight. I lived in Suffolk initially before moving to London with my parents. The book is based on my experience as a Black male coming to the UK at such an early age and seeks to describe my experiences of growing up in a foreign country and facing and dealing with all of the usual, and not so usual, challenges. The list includes: bullying at school, integrating into the culture, finding employment, the issues faced by a father with mental health issues, a mother who suffered with dementia in later life and my foray into the world of music. The book draws comparisons to attitudes around immigration then and now and questions whether much has changed, in this regard, since the Windrush years.
